Welcome to Merced Horsemen's Association Web Site
Merced Horsemen Association (MHA) is a non-profit organization that is operated and governed by a group of volunteers whose goal is to bring together people who share a common interest--the horse. The club provides fun, recreational and instructional horse-related activities for adults and youth through a variety of events. These events may vary from year to year. Our calendar events often include clinics, gymkhanas, a versatile ranch horse competition, sorting, and working cowhorse events.
As a non-profit organization, MHA operates on a volunteer basis. All club officers, board of director members, committee chairs, and helpers donate their time and energy to make your experience at MHA a positive one. Volunteers are needed to chair committees, work events, sponsor events, work in the kitchen, participate in work day projects, or run for office. Contact an officer or board member for information about volunteering!
Elections for officers and board members are held on an annual basis. Officers serve one year; whereas, the six board of director members serve three years, with two new members rotating in every year. Information regarding these positions, their duties, and the election process are covered in the club's by-laws. For more information contact a club officer or board member. (Click here for Contacts page.)
Meetings
Board and General meetings are conducted the second Thursday of every month. These meetings are held in the club house and members are encouraged to attend the meetings.
Facility
MHA is situated on approximately 40 acres outside the Merced city limits. There are two arenas. The larger arena is suited for horse shows, roping, reining, and working cow horse events. In the past the club has sponsored junior rodeos and livestock sales at this facility. There are several livestock holding pens, bucking chutes, and an announcer's booth. The smaller arena is typically used for cattle drafting, sorting and cutting events and also serves well as a warm-up area for the larger events. Meetings, dinners, dances, and other special events are held on the club house lawn or in the club house, which has a fully equipped kitchen facility.
When available the facility can be rented to outside organizations. Typical fees to rent the club house are $200 per day, the arena is $400 per day, or both for $600 per day. There is a deposit required for both the clubhouse and the arena, depending on the event. Additional charges may apply should your event exceed 50 people. MHA requires an additional insured or certificate of insurance in the amount of two (2) million dollars aggregate per event.
